Vinyasa Blend Level 1&2: This class is for students evolving in their Yoga practice with a more dynamic Vinyasa-style (flowing from posture to posture with breath awareness) as well as a blend of other Yoga methods and Pranayama techniques. This is a more energized class in which advanced postures will be incorporated. Teachers will give modifications for different levels though some prior yoga experience is recommended.
Dharma Vinyasa: Dharma Yoga is a modern interpretation of classical Eight-limbed or Hatha-Raja Yoga, deeply rooted in ethical precepts that includes elements of flowing Vinyasa, inversions and held poses that will help you to discover concentration, meditation, abiding contentedness and deep healing relaxation. This style of Yoga was created by Sri Dharma Mittra in 1975. The physical posture practice (Asana) tones and invigorates the body and mind, leading to enhanced flexibility, strength, balance and concentration.
Kundalini Yoga: In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical and nervous energies of the body and put them under the domain of the will, which is the instrument of the soul. This technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity and purify the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind and soul. Kundalini Yoga is for householders, for people who have to cope with the daily challenges and stresses of holding jobs, raising families and managing businesses. It is a path for everyone who wants the skills to cope successfully with the challenges of our times.
All Levels: We welcome all levels of experience and invite each individual to explore his or her strengths and limitations through modifications according to each student's abilities. Detailed alignment instruction is provided. Beginners welcomed.
Gentle Basics: A very simple and soothing Hatha yoga class suitable for all ages and abilities. We will explore the basic postures of Hatha Yoga with the aid of props, walls, and the floor. Excellent for pre-natal, post-natal, injury recovery and those who may find it difficult to do strenuous exercise, or who prefer to do a modest but effective level of yoga training.
Grateful Yoga: Comfortable for beginners and easily up-leveled for advanced, in Grateful Yoga we focus on appreciating the current condition of our bodies and effortlessly moving toward greater flexibility, toning and vitality. Starting from where we are without judgement, using a flowing sequence of poses, we work all muscle groups while addressing spirit, mind and body. The result is an enlivened spirit, open heart and healthier body.
Hatha Flow: A balanced combination of sustained poses (Hatha) as well as poses flowing in a mindful progression from one to another. Attention is always given to basic alignment & therapeutic principles. Mindfulness; observing breath and body (triputi) are an integral part of class. Classes are balanced with energy, to give you a good physical work-out, and calm, to keep you balanced.
Yoga Sculpt: Yoga Sculpt is a class that incorporates hand weights and high-intensity cardio bursts for a maximum calorie burning effect! You’ll recognize all of the postures from our vinyasa yoga classes. The hand weights add a new challenge to traditional yoga classes. Yoga Sculpt also incorporates cardio exercises to get your heart pumping and your blood flowing. And of course, there’s always a challenging core workout mixed in. This class uses upbeat music to help energize and is 60 minutes long. Building muscle through this practice will help improve your everyday yoga practice as well, making more postures accessible to you with the additional strength you gain.
Meditation: Meditation in Kundalini Yoga contains specific, practical tools that carefully and precisely support the mind and guide the body through the use of breath, mantra, mudra, and sound. The range and variety of meditation techniques in the Kundalini Yoga tradition is truly extraordinary. Yogi Bhajan passed on hundreds of meditations tailored to specific applications. There are meditations that reduce stress, work on addictions, increase vitality, and clear chakras, to name a few. While there exist many, many styles and approaches to meditation, what sets this approach to meditation apart is its precision, effectiveness, and practicality.
